The Makings of Short While Ago

Three Tall Pines recently recorded their debut album Short While Ago between September 2007 and January 2008.  The collection of songs captured on this album includes songs that were written and have been performed by the group over the past two years.   There is a consistent thread that weaves through the song selection that reflects early working class America life and hardship.

The album was recorded at Signature Sounds Studios in Pomfrey, Connecticut. The group visited several recording studios before meeting producer and engineer, Mark Thayer at Signature Sounds.  The studio, a restored barn in a picturesque rural setting, seemed to capture the essence of the to-be-recorded songs and Mark's experience recording acoustic albums such as Salamander Crossing and Mark Erelli seemed a good match for the music.

Mark worked with the group to engineer the album and track over several weekends. Mark helped produce the album with the group.  Special thanks to boo-boo for all the moral support and for loaning his puppet skunk to the pines during a late night listen-back session.

The album was mastered at Airshow Mastering in Springfield, Virginia by Charlie Pilzer.   Three Tall Pines was introduced to Airshow from Bonnie Rideout.  Special thanks to Charlie for mastering this album.

Special thanks to Mark Thayer, Chris Hersch, Mary, Stacy and Booboo and to fiends and family that helped support the album.   Chris is a great friend of the group and tracked banjo on some of the songs.
